The Birth of Siana

Siana Technologies was born from a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Africans living outside their home countries. The frustration of needing to fulfill civic duties from afar - renewing national identity documents, applying for land, submitting tax documents, collecting certificates for loved ones - all while being thousands of miles away from home.

We recognized that relatives may not always be available to assist, or might be unreliable in executing tasks on time and according to instructions. This gap often leads to loss of opportunities in land ownership, accrual of penalties in tax payments, freezing of bank accounts, outdated civic records, and delayed projects.

But it's not just about official documents. Sometimes you feel homesick, craving the comfort food you grew up enjoying, the favorite snack from the local store, the ingredients that spice up your favorite dish, or the skin and hair products that made you glow - items you simply cannot find in big online stores abroad.

Siana is our technology solution to address these outlined needs, bridging the gap between distance and necessity.

The Inspiration Behind Our Name

Siana - "To Run"

"Siana" in Setswana language means 'run'. The name is inspired by the African way of living where parents send children to do errands, and children have to run to ensure speedy execution of the errand. This cultural practice embodies urgency, reliability, and the commitment to getting things done quickly and efficiently.

The Speed of Light Tradition

Furthermore, parents would emphasize the urgency with which the errand must be executed by informing the child that they (the parent) are spitting saliva on the ground, and before it dries, the child should be back. The fact that saliva evaporates quickly urged children to run to ensure they were indeed back at the speed of light.
